HONOLULU HARBORHonolulu Harbor is part of Port Hawaii that also includes Barbers Point and Kewalo Basin (Kewalo visited earlier) on the island of Oahu and six harbors on other islands in the state. Port Hawaii is administered by the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, Harbors Division headquartered at Pier 11 in the Aloha Tower Complex.
![]() Honolulu Harbor is the main port of entry for goods consumed in Hawaii (80% of all goods for the approximate one million resident population plus military and tourist population are imported), the main port of departure for Hawaii exports, for berthing of passenger ships from around the world, for commercial fishing and other ocean-related commercial activities, and for mid-Pacific refueling of ships crossing the Pacific. More trade is conducted among Pacific Rim nations than among nations in any other part of the world, and Hawaii is strategically located in the middle of this activity. Hawaii's foreign trade with Japan is twice as great as that with any other nation. For more information, contact the Chief Harbors Division, Aloha Tower Complex, Pier 11, 79 S. Nimitz Hiighway, Honolulu, HI 96813 (phone 808 587-1927) or visit the Port Hawaii web site at www.state.hi.us/dot/harbors/oahu/oahu.htm for Oahu harbors information.
