Grant-in-Aid
PRIDE participants are encouraged to apply for grant-in-aid if they meet the criteria below.
- Be an eligible PRIDE Project Participant
- Be a current recipient of a Federal Pell Grant (FAFSA) for the current academic semester/year
- Be enrolled as an undergraduate student with at least six (6) or more credits.
* If a student is enrolled in CR/N courses, he/she must receive credit for at least half of them - Qualified applicants who are in their first two (2) years of post secondary education will have FIRST PRIORITY to receive any Grant In Aid.
- After funds have been awarded to the priority applicants, any excess funds will then be awarded accordingly to any remaining applicants in accordance with our grant guidelines.
- Have an unmet need or loan burden
* Determined through the HCC’s Financial Aid Office - Will earn a 2.50 GPA or higher for the semester.
* If the student is taking CR/N courses, he/she must receive credit for at least half of them - Be an active PRIDE Project participant (by completing the following criteria within the given semester)
- Meet three (3) times with a PRIDE Project professional staff member to complete your semester PRIDE Educational Plan (PEP). Create initial semester educational plan, update at midterm to evaluate the student’s progress and/or end of the semester.
- Attend one (1) or more PRIDE Project Life Skills Workshops AND participate in one (1) Educational/Cultural Event.
- Complete/Review the PRIDE Participant Checklist with a PRIDE Project professional staff member.
- Submit an essay
- Submit a copy of your signed current FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or most recent Income Tax Return.
Important Note
- Due to limited funding we cannot guarantee that we will be able to award every student.
- All applicants will be notified in writing via U.S postal service at the conclusion of each semester.
- Eligible students will need to apply for the PRIDE Project Scholarship (Grant in Aid) every semester.
- Please be sure that all of the information on the application is legible and complete.
Extra consideration will be given to students who utilize our services and resources. In addition to participating in additional PRIDE Project Educational/Cultural event & workshop.
