To use a study room:
- You must have a group of at least 2 people.
- One group member must have a valid UH ID card.
- HCC Faculty/Staff members may make reservations by phone.
Signing up for a study room
- The cardholder must write his/her name on the reservation sheet in the desired time and room number block.
- Groups may reserve a room for a maximum of 2 hours and extend it one more hour upon availability.
- Groups can sign up 2 weeks in advance, but advance sign-up is not required if rooms are available (i.e., a group may sign up and use a room immediately if it has not been reserved).
Entering the study room
- A group that has signed up on the reservation sheet and is ready to use a room must ask for assistance at the Circulation Counter and present a valid UH ID card.
- At least 2 group members must be present in order for the group to enter the room. (One member of a group is not allowed to wait in the room until the other members arrive.)
- A library staff member unlocks the room.
- A group that does not arrive within 15 minutes of its reserved time will forfeit its reservation, may be reassigned if another group is waiting to use the room.
Study room rules
- Food and drink are not allowed.
- Excessive noise is not allowed (rooms are not soundproof).
- At least 2 people must be in the room at all times. If one member of a 2-person group leaves, the remaining member must vacate the room.
- The library will not be held responsible for loss of personal items left in rooms.
- Groups who do not abide by these rules may be asked to leave. Repeat offenders may lose study room privileges.
When vacating a room, group members must remember to:
- Discard any trash.
- Erase the chalkboard.
- Push in chairs.
- Turn off the room lights.
- Return to the Circulation Counter to let the library staff know you are done with the room.
