Honolulu Community College Library subscribes to the SIRS Knowledge Source on the Web.

SIRS Knowledge Source (SKS) contains full-text news, articles, documents, and reference materials from highly regarded national, international, and government publications, plus Web sites, maps, and images. Our SKS subscription is comprised of four databases, described below: SIRS Researcher, SIRS Government Reporter, SIRS Renaissance, and SKS WebSelect. Coverage is approximately 1988 to the present.

Please note:
Our SIRS Knowledge Source (SKS) license is limited to Honolulu Community College (HCC) Library users.
Therefore, access from beyond HCC, such as by dial-in Internet connections, requires authentication. Authentication is done with your last name and library card number. Please read the remote authentication instructions if you need further information, or contact a reference librarian.

SKS Databases

The HCC Library's SIRS Knowledge Source (SKS) subscription is comprised of four databases. Search the SKS Databases together or individually, with Library of Congress subject headings, keywords, or Topic Browse.

SIRS Researcher
A full-text, general reference database emphasizing General Reference, Social Issues, Health, Science, Business, Politics, and Global Issues
Special features:

SIRS Government Reporter
Government affairs, procedures, and research; historic documents; landmark Supreme Court decisions; information about federal agencies
Special features:

SIRS Renaissance
Resources for the arts and humanities in these areas: Culture, Literature, Philosophy and Religion, Visual Arts, Architecture and Design, Music, Performing Arts, and Multimedia
Special features:

SKS WebSelect
Broad subject categories of Web resources, plus topics and featured Web sites of special interest
