Remote Authentication
for Databases on the Web

Honolulu Community College (HCC) Library subscribes to databases and indexes on the Web. Our licenses are limited to HCC users. Therefore, access from outside the HCC campus, such as by dial-in Internet connections, requires authentication. Authentication is done with your last name and library card number.

When you try to connect to a database from off-campus, a window will open:

Enter your last name and your library card barcode number, and click the login button.

Please note:
Your login will be blocked if

• you are not a HCC student, faculty, or staff
• your library card has expired
• you owe $10.00 or more in library fines and fees

You can check your library card account for outstanding materials, fines and fees, and expiration date.

Special Circumstances

• If your last name consists of two words separated by a space, enter both words of your last name -- with the space in between.
  

  examples:

  Last name:   De Mello
  

  Last name:   Mock Chew

• If your last name is hyphenated, enter both words of your last name -- with the hyphen in between.
  

  example:

  Last name:   Zeta-Jones

• If your last name has an apostrophe, enter your your last name -- with the apostrophe.
  

  example:
  

  Last name:   O'Neal

• If your name includes a suffix, such as Jr., Sr., III, enter your last name -- followed by the suffix.
  

  example:   Sammy Davis Jr.

  Last name:   Davis Jr
