Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP)

What is Federal Work-Study?
The FWSP is an employment program sponsored by the federal government. It provides students with the opportunity to earn money through working to meet their educational and personal expenses during the academic year. This program provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need. Federal Work-Study also encourages and helps students find work related to their interests or course of study.

Are Federal Work-Study jobs on campus or off campus?
Most jobs are on campus, but some opportunities are available for students to work off-campus.

How much will I make?
A student's FWSP hourly salary will not be lower, but can exceed the federal minimum wage. The money students earn in the FWSP does not get counted as income when re-applying for financial aid. As a result, the student's chance of being eligible for financial aid in the future increases.

How will I be paid?
Students are paid on a semi-monthly basis for their completed work hours.

Can I work as many hours as I want?
No. The amount you earn can't exceed your total Federal Work-Study award. When assigning work hours, your employer (supervisor) will consider your class schedule and your academic progress. The maximum number of hours any student employee can work is 20 hours per week during the academic semester.

What are the eligibility requirements for Federal Work-Study?
Students must carry at least 6 credits unless they are in their last semester. They must also maintain a 2.0 GPA.
