Welcome to the Honolulu Community College Strategic Planning Web Site

What is HCC Strategic Planning?

Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and determining the best paths to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.

If we plan to survive and thrive in the coming years strategic planning is essential. The reason to plan goes beyond simply dealing with a budget crisis, current or future. At Honolulu Community College, strategic planning provides us with the process and framework to meet the needs of the community, better the state's economic future, progress the college, support the University of Hawai'i Community College System, and, above all, enhance the lives of our students.

Why Plan?

HCC's current Strategic Plan runs from 2002 to 2010. In November 2008, the college's Planning Council installed a subcommittee tasked with updating the current Plan, including reviewing the college's Mission Statement and Strategic Goals.

This website was established to keep you and all college stakeholders informed about the process and decisions being made. It will be updated regularly and can be used to both track the subcommittee's progress and, once the plan is final, keep up-to-date on the college's implementation process throughout the 2008-2015 planning cycle. We hope you will find this site a useful tool for information and communication. Questions or comments can be directed to hccplan@hawaii.edu or through this site.
