Committee on Committees

Eligibility

Tenure/Non-Tenure Full Time/Part Time Elected/Appointed
T/N F A

Composition

  • Five (5) faculty members from diverse campus programs

Purpose

Working with the FSEC, the Committee on Committees coordinates the staffing of campus committees, elected and volunteer. The Committee ensures that committees are staffed by volunteers -- where appropriate -- and that ballots are prepared, distributed, and tallied for elected committees.

Function

The Committee on Committees:

  • Keeps an up-to-date database on faculty and staff (new tenures, new hires, and sabbatical/leave status).
  • Staffs committees including replacements and alternates when appropriate.
  • Runs elections for appropriate committees.
  • Keeps up-to-date records of committee structures and compositions.

Workload

Most of the work for the Committee on Committees is during the spring semester when ballots and volunteer lists must be prepared and tallied in order to staff the following year's committees. There is another period at the beginning of the fall semester when committee lists need to be finalized and remaining slots filled. Much of the detail work throughout the academic year falls mostly on the Chair. The Chair of the Committee on Comittees works very closely with the Campus Chair of the FSEC. It is recommended that committee members (especially the individual elected as Chair) be prepared to serve a two-year term.
