The Native Hawaiian Center "Artist In Residence Program" is intended to provide our students, faculty and the community with opportunities for cultural enrichment; to provide faculty with alternative teaching resources; to support Native Hawaiian artists and to enhance the warm and inviting environment of Halau 'Ike. A new artist exhibit is featured each semester.
Clark Little grew up on the North Shore of O'ahu and made his name as the pioneer of surfing the Waimea shorebreak. Clark had a unique talent for taking off on hopeless crunchers, getting launched and surviving in perhaps the nastiest shorebreak in the world.
After Clark stepped away from the incredible thrill of going big at Waimea, he realized that he longed to be back in his element. Clark returned to various North Shore breaks to capture the beauty and power of these monstrous waves from the inside out. What he has achieved through the lens of his camera are images never seen by those who reside on land.
