TIME

A 1 credit lab course takes about as much time and effort as a 3 credit 'lecture' course.

Each lab will require about six hours. That includes studying the learning outcomes and becoming familiar with any background material before you begin. Some labs may take longer if background material needs review, or if it is completely new.

This may seem like a lot of time, but it is equivalent to the time you would spend in a classroom lab in a semester. Compare the times here.

Do not wait until the last minute to start the lab exercise.

If there are questions about ANY aspect of any lab, send e-mail to the instructor (scitv@hcc.hawaii.edu ) or your classmates.

The grade for Lab 1 is based on the quality and content of the report.

The grade for labs 2 - 6 is based entirely on the lab quiz.

Quiz information will be sent only after a COMPLETE lab exercise is submitted to the instructor.

Each COMPLETE lab exercise will include:

  • data and calculations from the exercise
  • graphs/illustrations (if any)
  • answers to questions in the lab exercise
  • a brief summary/conclusion about the lab

*Labs 1, 3, 5, 6 are required. See below.
