INDEXES AND DATABASES

Use these online indexes and databases to find articles from magazines, newspapers, and journals. Full-text of the articles is often available. When full-text is not available, check the HCC Periodicals List to see if HCC Library subscribes to the magazine.

Please note:   Honolulu Community College Library registration is required to log in to these databases from off-campus.

    Academic Search Premier
    Scholarly publications in academic areas, including social sciences and ethnic studies

    Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
    Psychology, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods

    MAS Ultra - School Edition
    General interest and current events

    MasterFILE Premier
    Covers many subjects including general reference, such as geography, population, and overview information about Pacific Island nations

    Search EBSCOHost by keyword(s).
    examples:
    "Polynesian culture"
    Name of the island(s) or people , e.g. "Pohnpei," "Tongans"

    Database:  General Reference Center
    Coverage: 1980-present

    Search InfoTrac by subject or by keyword.
    Suggested search terms:
    "Oceania"
    Name of the island or people, e.g. "Guam," "Samoans"

    Read the remote log in instructions.
    Connect to InfoTrac.


     

  • Hawaii Pacific Journal Index (HPJI) via Hawaii Voyager
    HPJI is an index to articles about Hawaii and the Pacific, and to magazines and journals published in these areas.
    Tips:
    • After connecting to Hawaii Voyager, go to the Citation Database menu, then select "Hawaii Pacific Journal Index".
    • "Guided Search" is recommended.
    • Full-text is NOT available.
    • A library card is not required for searching.
