Please answer the
following questions and submit answers to me through email or regular mail.
These should be submitted to me by Monday, March 2. Each answer
should be at least 2 - 3 paragraphs. I will read over your answers and
send them back with comments. This exercise is worth 10 points.
1. Describe
the duties and obligations *on both sides* in the reciprocal relationship
between the feudal lord and vassal.
2. Explain
one of the significant legacies of the feudal age in Western/European
civilization.
3. Briefly describe the changes that represented an
"economic revival" during the High Middle Ages.

Which aspects of modern Western culture (today) still reflect the
legacies of Middle Ages culture and development, or even more specifically the
"barbarian"/tribal influences which dominated during this period.
2. What do you think
the studying the Middle Ages tells us about the basic needs and functions of
human society? For example, when there is no formal state, what core needs
must be met and what are people willing to do to meet these?
3. Why do
you think the Middle Ages, which were in reality such a grim, difficult time,
is so fascinating to popular culture depictions (
