The Trades: Electricians Continued Competency CourseView PDF Brochure [PDF] Electrician Continued Competency Courses2005 Code update Effective July 1, 1995 , all electricians in categories EJ, EJI, EJS, ES, ESI, and ESS (Mintenance Eectricians - EM category are exempt from this requirement) will need to complete a continued competency requirement and pay the applicable fees in order to renew their license. Alternately, you may also renew your license by taking an exam*. The deadline to renew your license is June 30, 2008 . Failure to renew your license by paying the applicable fee and meeting the continued competency requirement (attending the continued competency course OR taking an exam) shall constitute a forfeiture of license effective July 1, 2008 . A forfeited license does not allow you to perform electrical work. You have one year from June 30, 2008 , to restore your license. If you fail to restore your license by 6/30/2009 , you will need to reapply as a new applicant. *Licensees interested in meeting the continued competency requirement by taking an examination on the updates to the 2005 NEC may call Thomson Prometric at (808) 261-8182 or call the Licensing Branch at 586-2700 or visit www.hawaii.gov/dcca/areas/pvl. Please Note the Different Fees for the Classes For classes held from January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 , tuition will be $360.00. Terms of Attendance Attendance for the full 4 hours of class will be required in order to obtain a certificate of course attendance. You must be in class by the published start time of the class as listed below. No one will be allowed in class after the published start time. Latecomers not admitted to class will forfeit their tuition fees. You must also bring a copy of the 2005 National Electrical Code book since the lecture and discussions will require the use of the book. Name on License The name and spelling used to register for this class must be exactly the same as the name on your pocket license or notification of licensed status from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. Contract classes can be arranged for companies or organizations in which the location, date, and time are determined by the company or organization. Individual fees may be lower as tuition is charged on a per class basis instead of an individual basis. Cancellation of Classes Classes may be cancelled if the minimum number of students are not met. He also has over 30 years of experience in industrial, residential and commercial construction and his background includes high voltage wiring installations (5KV), motor controls, service entrances, chilled water and HVAC controls, high rise distribution and fire alarm, and complete power build-out requirements.
