Welcome to the Hawaii Drafting
Education Collaborative sponsored by the Honolulu Community College Drafting Technology
program for Hawaii students, teachers, and visitors. This is the place for connecting with
others in the field of drafting, for finding resources to help in learning or teaching, for
sharing information to benefit others, and for displaying and recognizing the drafting-related
accomplishments of students throughout the State. The Collaborative is open to anyone
involved in a drafting course or program on the high school or college level and to visitors
interested in any aspect of drafting education or practice in Hawaii.
Here you can connect with other teachers who may be teaching the same courses as you, who may
be using the same types of computers or software, or who may have similar interests and
concerns about course content, classroom management, drafting in the curriculum, industry
standards and practices, or other issues related to drafting education. Want input from others
about equipment purchases? Help or advice about developing PowerPoint presentations? Have a
special expertise to share with others? Want to advertise an upcoming event? This is the
resource and conduit for your interests and expertise.

The Collaborative is organized
into three sections. Students and teachers need passwords to access separate areas of the
site. The discussion forums and chat rooms are separate for students and teachers, other
features of The Collaborative can be accessed by both, and a few features are available
only to students, or only to teachers. Visitors (as well as students and teachers) can access
the visitor section of The Collaborative without passwords. A school directory, an
events calendar, and a variety of resources are available to visitors, but there is no
discussion forum or chat area.
Information about navigating this site and about participating in the bulletinboard-type
discussion forum and chat is available by clicking on the "help" button at the far left.
There is also a "contact us" button at the left for sending questions and comments about the
site, for requesting individualized help, and for submitting materials or information for
posting.
Thank you for visiting the site. Enjoy it -- and please pass the word about The
Collaborative to your drafting students and colleagues.
